Karon Grieve is Homecrafts Expert on BBC Radio Scotland's McAulay & Co Show and was Herb Crafts Expert on Scottish Television's The Hour programme. She is author of So Easy Herbal.and Simply Scottish Cakes & Bakes as well as regularly writing for many UK magazines including Handmade Living, Simply Beautiful and Scottish Woman. So Easy Christmas by author Karon H. Grieve is a lovely cookbook filled with plenty of holiday ideas to help celebrate the Christmas season. Some of her craft ideas look pretty nifty and everything is truly lovely except the recipes are written in metric. Metric is fine if you live outside of the United States but most US cooks use the English measurement system. There are some English measurements intermingled with the metric measurements but no truly written recipes using English measurements. Also, the oven temperatures are written in metric or Gas Mark. US cooks do not have ovens that use either measurement.I read her directions for creating Painted Baubles (Christmas ornaments) and was surprised to see Grieve did NOT recommend wearing a mask. Through my years of decorative painting, I have learned to wear an appropriately rated face mask as a safety procedure. I suspect the same should be done when using white car primer spray paint.
Her book is lovely to read, her photographs are gorgeous, but her book needs a bit more editing.
Recommend with caveats given.
